Enviromum "As a part-time worker and full-time Mum, I am interested in sharing and finding out more about quick and easy changes that can help care for people and the world we live in. My work in urban and environmental policy has developed my interest in current environmental issues, particularly climate change, and I would like to see my work knowledge crossover more into my personal life and behaviour."
The Duck Herder "It is all about living an elegantly frugal pedal powered frightfully abundant urban farming existence in the nether regions of the ONC (Our Nation's Capital). Namaste my feathered friends."
Michelle at Buttontree Lane "Making things is a major part of who I am. Procrastination is another. I sew, quilt and crochet. I garden and cook. I ride a sky-blue bicycle. I believe food always tastes better in vintage Pyrex."
Kirsten at Sustainable Suburbia "Sustainable Surburbia is about – you guessed it – trying to live more sustainably in the suburbs. That can mean anything from installing solar LED garden lights to planting fruit trees or raising your own free-range chickens. It’s a journey which people make in different ways and sometimes different directions. We’re not about judgement here, just information."
Eat Australia "Planting, growing, eating, supplying, and promoting native Australian produce (aka bushfoods, aka bushtucker). With a sideline in growing edibles in general and a solid attempt at self-sufficiency and permaculture in cool-climate NSW (Australia). Includes chooks."
Eileen at Consumption Rebellion "I started this blog when I decided to not buy anything brand new for an entire year. That year ended in September 2007 and having learned why I buy, I'm now attempting to consume according to my values."
Bredbo Valley View Homestead "- Sustainable - Ethical - Local – Valley View Farm is a small family farm featuring a rustic old tumbled down cottage on the plains of the Southern Tablelands, filled with animals both big and small – the cottage that is!"
I Op, Therefore I Am "A collaborative blog about op shopping in Canberra, ACT and surrounds within an hour's journey (ie: Queanbeyan, Yass and Goulburn)."
Oh, and don't forget about my other blog, seen as I am a local eco-blogger too!
eat at dixiebelles "Kid Wrangler, Wife Extraordinaire, Wannabe Urban Homesteader, Novice Permaculturalist, Earth & Communities Supporter, Ambling Prepper, Laptop Activist, Survironmentalist, Rambling Blogger... join me in my journey, and try not to trip on the blah, blah, blah!"
Emma also has a blog on her website, Brindabella Baby.
Do you know of any other local eco-bloggers who I can list here? Am I missing someone obvious?
Update: Thanks to Michelle I will add dilly dalley doolittle gardening "I grow vegetables in an organic community garden in Canberra, Australia. We are characterised by mild winters, with a long frost danger zone, and a short, dry, hot summer. Our natural, unimproved soil is mainly clay, with a shallow (a few centimeters only) topsoil. Drought, frosts and climate change worry me. The peace I feel in the garden inspires me. I also keep a diary, listed as "a weft yarn". It chronicles the things I make in the home."
Another update:
Greenie at Urban Food Forest
"This blog shares the wonder and joys - and trials and tribulations of developing a food forest in a suburban backyard in Canberra, Australia. We are in a cool temperate zone, with very hot, dry summers, and cold winters with regular frosts, but not usually snow."
Tania at Ivy's Nest is also from somewhere near Canberra!
Nice list, thanks for the mention :) I didn't know about half of those blogs, I will have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention! That was a lovely surprise.
ReplyDeleteA great community gardening/eco blogger is Melissa from Dilly Dalley Doolittle. And she's in Canberra.
